Case studies
UK Metro
Type of Business
Metro was launched in March 1999 as a free, colour newspaper for morning commuters. At first it was only available in London, but now urbanites in 16 of the UK's major cities can pick up a free copy of Metro as they commute to work in the morning. Every weekday morning over 1.35 million copies are distributed across the UK, making Metro the UK's 4th national newspaper.
Duration
Due to the tight deadlines and busy schedules of the editors, a Bite Size programme of 2-hour sessions once a week, running over 7 weeks was put together.
The Brief
To develop core management skills in the Editorial Heads of Department, to enable them to manage their people rather than their workflow. Lara Ashworth, Head of Talent, UK Metro
The Programme
An Editorial Management Development Programme covering seven specific areas of Management.
- Understanding the Management Role
- Motivating your Team
- Effective Communication and Meeting Techniques
- Delegation
- Time Management and Planning
- Problem Solving - Dealing with Difficult People and Demanding Situations
- Building Assertiveness
The Result
The programme was an enormous success, gaining post-course evaluation ratings from the delegates that were among the highest for any training programme Metro has run. The programme was exceptional from the initial programme planning meetings, through delivery, and to the full debrief at its end. In my experience the professionalism 360 Training demonstrate in all that they do is unparalleled in the training and development marketplace.
